PLA, also known as Polylactic Acid, is a kind of popular material used in 3D Printing. It is a new type of biodegradable material derived from starch which is extracted from renewable vegetal resources (such as corn).

PLA is widely used in 3D Printing, applicable to almost all types of 3D Printers. It is the go-to material for most users due to its biodegradability and easy-of-use. However, users should consider its pros and cons according to your specific requirements and printing items when choosing PLA Filaments.
Key Features
  • Eco-friendliness
Biodegradable, more environmentally friendly than most of 3D Printing Filaments.
  • No odor
Viewed as the Filament without odor.
  • Low shrinkage, good heat resistance
It can print samples which is structurally complicated and dimensionally large without break and distortion.
  • Good toughness and high strength
In addition to ordinary objects, it is suitable for printing assembling structural parts. Printing filling rate shall be over 30% when the structural parts need a high strength.
  • Easy to print
Printing temperature lower than ABS and low warping.
  • Shrinkage
Shrinkage may occur to some extent during the printing of PLA, which may affect the accuracy and stability. So this point shall be taken in to account during designing and printing.
  • Storage requirement
PLA Filament shall be well preserved in an environment avoiding high temperature and humidity to prevent materials going bad.
Advantages of PLA
____________________________
1. Biodegradable: PLA is a kind of biodegradable material derived from renewable resources (such as corn starch or sugarcane), which allows it to be superior to other materials in environmental sustainability.

2. Easy to use: PLA commonly has a lower melting point, so a higher printing temperature is not required during 3D Printing. It is also easy to print, which means it is a friendly choice for novices.

3. Good mechanical property: It can print durable objects due to its strength and stiffness. However, its strength may not as good as some other materials such as ABS.

4. A wide range of color options available: PLA Filaments provides a wide range of color options, which allows users to create colorful 3D works.

5. Non-toxicity: PLA is commonly considered as a safe material which is harmless to human bodies and the environment.
